Post-Adoption Services

We do not just believe that adoption is a lifelong commitment and lifelong conversation; we are here to help you facilitate that conversation for years to come.
AdoptionWorks provides a variety of post-adoption services for both AdoptionWorks clients as well as other community members who are part of an adoption triad.

Open Adoption Communication:

For former AdoptionWorks clients, we are available to help you facilitate the ongoing open relationship with your child’s birth family as it changes and grows over time.

Search and Reunion:

To the best of our professional ability, we may be able to assist a family in managing the search and reunion process with birth family members.

Picnic:

Our yearly AdoptionWorks picnic is a big hit for both adoptive and birth families alike!

Questions and Support:

We exist as an ongoing resource for you to consult with as needed in your adoption journey. We enjoy utilizing our network of outside services to help you find ongoing support for your family as your child grows. Once an AdoptionWorks family, always an AdoptionWorks family!

Counseling:

AdoptionWorks provides licensed, professional counseling services to all members of the adoption triad, both former clients and community members, on a sliding scale basis. Adoptive families who have completed the AdoptionWorks Support Group are eligible for a reduced counseling fee. Birth mothers who are active in our Birth Mother Support Group are also eligible for this reduced fee.

Support Groups:

For adoptive families, birth families, and adoptees in the community, we host free support groups that you can learn more about below:

Meets up to 3x a year for 8-week sessions and is open to adoptees
ages 5-18 and their adoptive parents. This is a closed group, meaning you will begin and end the 8-week sessions with the same group of families

Virtual, monthly meetings on the 3rd Thursday evening of each month. This is an open group with no set number of sessions. Text 214-952-7421 to learn more.

What is Post Adoption Support?

AdoptionWorks Post Adoption is a free support group program for adoptees ages five to seventeen. At AdoptionWorks we provide a safe and loving environment where children and teens can connect with others who are adopted. Here adoptees can find the freedom and safety to explore their adoption experience openly. The curriculum for the post adoption support groups has been developed by licensed mental health professionals who are also adopted. These groups are designed by adoptees, as well as adoption professionals, for adoptees and their parents.
